I've had 10 years of experience working at Google before I made the decision to OSRS gold move into game development full time. Matt's experience spans the creation of Hollywood computer systems for movie sets, a stint in South Korean esports and mobile game development. We're beyond excited to share the progress we've made using This Means Warp.
A variety of video games have led to aspiring developers create their own. But it's rare to have a derivative work picked up by the creator of the original game.
That was not the case for Brendan Malcolm, the one-man team at Australian game developer Games By Malcs, whose idle RPG Melvor Idle is published by Jagex which is the developer of RuneScape, a title which was the primary idea behind the project.
Melvor Idle strips away the 3D-based environments and graphics of RuneScape and other similar MMOs and reduces it to a simple idle game that relies on menus, where players manage their inventory, skills and quests. Combat encounters are fought as well as winning them earns you XP and loot that can be used to purchase any skill tree or upgrades players select, while resuming things like crafting or cutting wood yields benefits.
Malcolm has played RuneScape since his early days as well as dabbled with a number of popular idle games, including Clicker Heroes, Cookie Clicker and NGU Idle. While he enjoyed them but felt that the genre could have something that was more satisfying in cheap OSRS GP a similar way as Jagex's most popular RPG.
